The Conference WOMEN IN MENA REGION: between rights construction, gender-based violence and inclusive practices will be held on June 3 and 4, 2025 in the Sala Lauree of the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology and Communication.

In recent decades, women in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries have
initiated radical transformation processes in the societies in which they live. Organizations have emerged to contrast religious law’s limitations, domestic and sexual violence, and to increase women's participation in the economic, social, political, and cultural spheres. In many scenarios, women play a crucial role in building peace processes and creating more just societies.
The conference involves historians, economists,philosophers and sociologists who
in recent years have reworked conceptual frameworks as well as actors from civil society, associations and students. The aim is to discuss the different aspects of the active presence of women in the construction of processes of inclusion, awareness, mobilization and recognition in the public and political debate at various levels.

Il 3 e 4 giugno 2025, il Dipartimento di Scienze sociali ed economiche della Sapienza Università di Roma organizza un convegno internazionale sulla condizione delle donne nell'area MENA (Middle East and North Africa). Saranno presenti studiose e studiosi di tutto il mondo, donne e uomini delle istituzioni, personaggi di primo piano della lotta contro la violenza sulle donne. Il convegno è rivolto alla comunità accademica e, soprattutto, alle studentesse e agli studenti ed è un'occasione per analizzare uno dei temi più importanti dell'agenda internazionale.
